We have new neighbors.  A fox and her (eight!) pups moved in across the street from us.  We’d watched this little lady run around the neighborhood in recent weeks, figuring that she was on the hunt for chicken dinner.  Last weekend we caught sight of her family romping in the sunshine.  The (human) neighbors say there’s another den just a block away.  I think it’s a good year to be a fox.

We also have new roommates.  A couple of robins have built a cozy little nest atop our front porch light.  They started a little more than a week ago, making a monstrous mess on our porch and siding, and today I noticed a single blue egg tucked away inside.

Appropriately, today is Earth Day.  Cheeks and I went for a short walk this morning to enjoy the fog (something we see very little of) before heading to the grocery store.  When we came out of the store it was thundering and raining.  Two hours later and the sun is shining brightly.  So, this Earth Day we’re learning to love unpredictable weather.  And to always dress in layers.
